BARUFC U10’s v Consett

BARUFC U10’s v Consett

Jacqui Teasdale3 Dec - 22:06

Hard fought games

After a damp start, the skies cleared over West Mills as our U10’s took on the challenge of our visitors Consett.

These were hard fought games as our players played their hearts out against good opponents. The breakdown was a very keenly contested area. Both teams were very committed to winning the ball in this hard fought over area of the game. Our players are showing good understanding and development in this new and quite challenging element of the game.

Our tackling was much improved with everyone making a really positive contribution to the defensive effort. The defensive line was effective with all players doing their best for their team and their teammates which was great to see.

Our attack was good with effective ball carrying, but with less space it was hard at times to find opportunities to use the passing skills we have been practicing in training. Nevertheless, the intent was very good and we certainly showed some improvements in this area which was great to see.

Well done to all our players. You all deserve a lot of credit for your efforts.

Players of the week.
Harry Dodds. Some excellent tackling and very competitive play from Harry at the ruck. He worked hard on both sides of the ball and really put some real graft in for his team. Great play Harry.

Edward Bennett. Edward was a very effective ball carrier constantly attacking the Consett lines. He did some great work in the keenly fought over breakdown and made a great contribution to his team. Well played Edward.

Harry Wigmore. Some very committed ball carrying and good teamwork from Harry. He was leading the way for his team and really encouraging his teammates in a very positive way. Great work Harry.

Elliot Marr. Elliot worked really hard both on attack and defence for his team. He made some great plays and surged forward at every opportunity. In defence he made some good tackles and set a great example to his team. Well played Elliott.

Don’t forget indoor training on Wednesday at 6pm, and with us missing training last week due to the weather, an important outdoor training session next Sunday at 10am. We look forward to seeing all the players then.
