Bishop 10 - 25 Houghton
The 13’s entertained a large Houghton le Spring side in what was a hard physical game.
We have faith in all our boys and had we started the match the way we ended it, the score would have been much closer. We let our opposition dominate early on, we missed tackles and weren't our normal selves around the ruck. We let our heads go down a little and shipped a couple of sloppy tries.
However, the lads regrouped at half time and there was a renewed determination to get back in the game. We were more dominant around the breakdown and played the game more in the opposition half.
We scored a couple of fantastic tries through sheer determination and you couldn't fault the second half effort. We were let down a little bit by indiscipline, but this was born out of frustration and we learn from this.
Nicky was the overwhelming player of the match. His determination in the tackle and dynamic forward runs were a highlight of the game, well done Nicky.
You learn more in your defeats and we'll be better individually and collectively for this.
