Today’s game took our U8’s to Seaham for possibly the coldest day of the year so far. The game started off a little bit slower than usual as both teams tried to fight off the cold and keep warm but eventually both teams found their rhythm and played an end to end game.
Grabbing tags with cold hands was difficult but we stepped up to the challenge and kept the defence tight making it difficult for Seaham to break through. Our support play to the ball carrier was excellent today and our training on changing direction quickly to create spaces and open gaps in the defence led to some great tries from the two blues in what was a very cold but very enjoyable morning of rugby.
We look forward to hosting Seaham on the return home leg.
Our players of the week went to Frederick for his outstanding effort from start to finish. Secondly to Robert who made some great runs and support play, also for his defence work when he grabbed a tag whilst being bulldozed over and still stood with a smile on his face, which at the end of the day is what it’s all about.
Well done all !!
Chris & Gareth
