The Bishop U10’s and their supporters made the short trip to Darlington RFC on this fresh Sunday morning. This fixture presented a tougher challenge than recent fixtures for our group as they were split into two teams, for two matches.
The Darlington teams were strong and well organised, particularly in defence and very competitive in the ruck. This lead to some turnovers that put our players under pressure. However, the most pleasing part of our performance was the way in which our teams showed great fortitude and determination to keep at bay the Darlington attack. There was some strong defence and effective tackling from every player, and good teamwork was evident throughout our teams as we played against strong opponents.
Well done to all of our players for sticking together and working hard as a team to keep driving forward and keeping up the defensive effort. The Bishop team spirit to keep working for each other was very apparent.
This was a tough competitive encounter in difficult, muddy, energy sapping conditions but everyone kept going and worked hard. The effort everyone put in was fantastic to see. We learned a lot today which will benefit the team a great deal as we move forward.
We did some fantastic work. Our determination and ability to keep passing whi under pressure
was complimented upon by our opposition Coaches. This shows the hard work during indoor training is paying off, but there’s plenty to keep working on to look after the ball and maximise our attacking opportunities.
As a Coaching team we are very proud of the progress, commitment, and considerable effort of each player. Thank you to the parents who never stopped cheering our players on. This support makes a big difference to the players confidence while they’re in the thick of a competitive game.
Players of the week.
Sonny Hockridge. Sonny worked really hard in defence for his team as he made a number of good tackles. He was very active in the rucks securing the ball on many occasions. Well played Sonny.
Abie Bannister.
Another live wire performance from Abie. He scored some great tries for his team and was very determined in defence.
His running lines and sidestepping really made a difference to his team as he lead the attack. Well done Abie.
Next Sunday we have an away fixture at Durham City. Please confirm availability on our poll! We hope to see everyone there.
Thank you for your continued support.
